3HZ presents// 

Somewhere between folk, dream pop and experimental electronica – though they themselves would probably disagree with any of these labels. As they say, they didn’t set out to form a folk band and have never consciously drawn on folk melodies. They simply played their own thing. The result? Music that regularly defies genre labels and feels most at home at the crossroads. Listen – you’ll have to find out for yourselves.

Kadabra Dyskety Kusaje is a Ukrainian-Polish duo formed by Mariya Mavko and Michał Szczepańczyk. Since 2019, they’ve been developing their own musical language, in which subtle echoes of tradition meet electronica, ambient and hypnotic melodies. Their discography includes the mini-album Simplex (2019) and the album Słowa (2022), which won, amongst other accolades, a special mention from Radio Four at the Polish Radio Folk Festival Nowa Tradycja for its “coherent musical narrative and expression of resistance to reality”.

Both are closely connected to the Wrocław music scene. Michał Szczepaniec has collaborated with, amongst others, EABS, Oxford Drama and sneaky jesus, and also composes music for video games and theatre productions. Mariya Mavko, a flautist and vocalist originally from Lviv, is also a member of the Wrocław Improvised Orchestra and is involved in projects combining improvised music and the visual arts.
