Mariam Giunashvili
Mariam Giunashvili is a 28-year-old documentary photographer from Tbilisi. With a background in psychology and media studies at Tbilisi State University, she draws on social sciences in her artistic projects. Her interest in underrepresented communities emerged while working as a bartender in Tbilisi nightclubs. The energy and evolving lifestyle in Georgia continue to inspire her work. Mariam’s photographs have been exhibited in Strasbourg, and she was selected as one of the 25 best candidates to participate in the Canon Visa Pour L’Image workshop.
In 2021, she won first prize in the KIU photography competition, and in 2022 she received a scholarship for multidisciplinary artists from the Prince Klaus Foundation and became a Chaikhana scholarship holder.
As part of the September MagiC Carpets residency, Mariam Giunashvili is working on a photographic project documenting the life of the Korean community in Wrocław.
