Creative Journeys from Lithuania to Ruska 46

Art, local stories and personalities from across Europe will once again come together in Ruska’s colourful courtyard. Find out which stories we’ll be bringing together this time as part of the MagiC Carpets platform.
Marijonas Verbel, this year’s artist-in-residence under the AIR Wro international support programme, focuses their artistic practice on creative work in the medium of weaving and art education. They are currently developing their passion for handicrafts through a ‘site-specific’ project as part of the MagiC Carpets platform.
Last week, Marijonas began collaborating with a group centred around the E. Geppert Otwarte Pracownie Plastyczne – a partner of the residency programme. During the workshops, participants are exploring the distinctive architectural features of the Ruska courtyard together and considering how the space around us might be interpreted creatively.
The installation currently under construction will be based on woven forms inspired by the architectural details of our artistic nook. The project will soon take the form of a spatial artwork, which we’ll be able to admire during the Ruska 46 Courtyard Festival, between 19 and 21 June.
