What does home mean to us?
Data publikacji:
Is it possible to feel at home in more than one place? And what stays with us when we change country, language and surroundings? These are the questions that have been on the mind of French artist Marilyne Grimmer over the past few weeks during her residency in Wrocław.
Marilyne met with members of the Korean community to discuss home, memory, belonging and the experience of living between cultures. These meetings were based on personal stories, memories and objects that help us talk about the places we come from and call home.

Join us for the residency finale
On 29 September at 6.00 pm, the finale of Marilyne Grimmer’s residency will take place at Barbara. The artist will present the results of her work and talk about the encounters and experiences she has had over the past few weeks. It will also be an opportunity to discuss what connects different stories, places and ways of understanding home.

Would you like to join the conversation beforehand?
Ahead of the finale, there will be two creative workshops – on 24 and 28 September. This is an invitation to explore, together, our own stories relating to home and belonging.
During the sessions, we’ll be working with objects, photographs and personal stories. You don’t need any artistic experience or to prepare in any particular way. All you need to do is bring along an object, a photograph or a story that reminds you of home.
