BIG CITY LIFE is coming to Wrocław for the next 2 months
AIR Wro’s new international residency project is in collaboration with the Slovakian K.A.I.R. (Košice Artist in Residence). The initiative focuses on exploring the possibilities offered by design and workshop graphics, which, due to their versatility, can effectively connect distant environments within creative activities.
As part of the two-month residency, Zuzana Kutašová has teamed up with Tereza Sejkova, with whom she is co-founding BRUT.TO – a creative platform that brings together people with disabilities and professional graphic designers to create bold, thoughtful visual work – from 2019.
Through collaborative workshops and exhibitions, the collective draws attention to the fact that common stereotypes and assumptions about people with disabilities are often very hurtful, while at the same time creating a much-needed space for creative activities and creativity for them.

During the residency, together with the artists, we have planned a series of artistic activities that will take place in the spaces of the courtyard at 46 Ruska Street. Over the course of two months, the residents will conduct a series of workshops using both design and printmaking techniques with the community around Arbrut Gallery, as well as the City Gallery Studio and the Reception Club café.
The effects of the work will be presented during an exhibition as part of the Backyard Festival, which will be the culmination of the entire project, at the end of June. The event will also include an open discussion on artistic residencies as a space for co-creation, which will be attended not only by the residents themselves, but also by representatives of the Wrocław Institute of Culture and K.A.I.R. from Košice.
Residency partners: K.A.I.R., Artbrut Gallery, City Gallery Studio.
