Grafikwerkstatt Studio – we know who’s going on the residency!

We now know the winner of the May call for applications for the artist residency in Dresden. This autumn, Paulina Piechaczek will be working on her projects at Grafikwerkstatt Studio. Congratulations!

The City of Wrocław, in collaboration with its partner city, Dresden, has been organising a residency programme for artists specialising in printmaking for nine years now. Thanks to this programme, the following artists have already had the opportunity to work at Grafikwerkstatt Studio, one of Europe’s largest printmaking studios: Modesta Gorol, Anna Chlebowska, Maja Dokudowicz, Natalia Tarnawa, Katarzyna Roman and Dominika Ziober-Król, Beata Filipowicz, Vinicius Libardoni, Ioannis Anastasiou, Modesta Gorol, as well as Aleksandra Czudżak, who completed her residency at the beginning of October 2025. For almost a decade, the exchange programme has enabled art school graduates from neighbouring federal states to spend a month as artists-in-residence at the other institution. We hosted Ana Pireva during her month-long residency in Wrocław in April.

Now it’s time for a return visit!

Aleksandra Czudżak, a Wrocław-based artist specialising in traditional printmaking and illustration techniques, will be travelling to the capital of Saxony on 27 September for five weeks to focus on her work, broaden her horizons and create alongside some of Europe’s finest graphic artists.

Who is Paulina Piechaczek?

An artist and illustrator, a graduate of the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. She works mainly in lithography, linocut, drawing and mixed media. In her work, she explores themes related to mythology, symbolism, ritual and archetypal narratives concerning human morality. She focuses on depicting these aspects through fairy-tale characters and the relationships between them.
