Do you have an idea? The second call for Microgrants is coming soon

Do you have an idea for an initiative in your neighborhood? Now is the perfect time to bring it to life. The second call for Microgrants kicks off on May 1st it’s a city program that supports grassroots initiatives by Wrocław residents. Find out how to apply and what kind of support is available.

The first call for proposals in 2026 set a record for the number of applications. This is the best proof that you want to take action, come together, and change your immediate surroundings. What’s the good news? The second call for proposals is coming up.

How it works?

Every year, we announce three calls for proposals, which take place on the following dates: February 1 – 15, May 1 – 15, and September 1 – 15. As a reminder, there are three paths within the Microgrants program where you can submit your ideas. First one is for individuals and informal groups and is run by the Wrocław Institute of Culture, and that is the one we are focusing on in this text. The other two – Mikrogrants NGO and youth Mikrogrants, are coordinated by Umbrella Fundation.

There is no single formula for a project. The formats you propose can be very wide: workshops, artistic activities, walks, meetings, environmental or educational initiatives. However, it is important that it can not be a one-time event, but rather a series of activities that provides space for building relationships.

Who is this path for?

The call for proposals we are managing is aimed at individuals and informal groups (e.g.: neighborhood, friendship, or student groups) who want to carry out a project in Wrocław. You don’t need to be a registered resident to submit a project. All that is required is a willingness to take action in the city with its residents. The most important thing is that the proposed activities bring residents together.

We invite you to submit proposals for activities carried out in one of the four former districts of Wrocław: Fabryczna, Psie Pole, Śródmieście, and Krzyki. We are committed to decentralizing cultural events in the city, which is why we exclude the Old Town neighborhood from our microgrant projects.

The maximum grant amount for your project is 10,000 PLN gross.

If you’re looking for inspiration, check out the See the procjects tab. There you’ll find information about currently ongoing events along with an archive of past projects. See how diverse local initiatives can be!

You’re not alone!

Microgrants are not just about funding. They also provide support for your team at every stage: from the initial idea, through the application, to implementation. Consultations, informational meetings and support materials help you clear your idea, avoid formal errors and plan your project in a realistic way. All the necessary files for your application (also with our tips) can be found under the Support > Mikrogrants tab. Please carefully review the rules, attachments, and application template. The frequently asked questions and answers will also clear up many of your doubts.

For this call for proposals, we have prepared application documents written in simpler language. We were supported in this effort by Dr. Marta Śleziak from the Plain Language Workshop at the Wrocław University. We hope this will help you familiarize yourself with the rules of participation in the Program and make it easier to prepare your application.

First, we invite you to attend the information sessions:

If you have any questions, please contact us by email, phone, or in person – after scheduling an appointment – before submitting your application. This is especially important for first-time applicants. We offer individual consultations from April 15th to May 11th, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. We can schedule a meeting online or in person at Barbara, the WIK headquarters.

How and when to submit an application?

The application system will open on May 1st at midnight at: mikrogrants-applications.instytuteofculture.pl. It will remain available to you until May 15 at 11:59 PM.

Take the city into your own hands!

We firmly believe that the city changes not only through large-scale investments, but also through local initiatives. Such energy gives rise to ideas that leave a mark on the spaces, relationships, and memories of event participants. Perhaps the next one of these stories will begin with your idea?
