The Italian photographer’s month-long creative residency in Wrocław became an attempt to reach out to a community that lives right next to us, yet remains almost invisible on a daily basis. Combining documentary photography with social practices, the artist established a dialogue with the Korean minority in our city.
As part of the “Barbara 1965–2025” workshop series, Olga Budzan and a group of women from Wrocław created a large-format textile installation inspired by the history of the iconic Wrocław bar, now the headquarters of WIK.
Three locations normally inaccessible, located beneath Grunwaldzki Square, three days of exhibition, nine unique works by Yuriy Biley, and over 1,300 visitors—these are the numbers behind the exhibition “SHELTERS, COVERS, SLITS – It’s somewhere further away. Don’t worry. Now closer, even closer.”
The moment has come – the large-format fabric, created under the watchful eye of Olga Budzan and her workshop participants, will be permanently displayed in Barbara’s Meeting Room!
