Autumn Full of Premieres and Jubilees in the Wrocław Cultural Guide

Some years and months are denser with opportunities to celebrate cultural anniversaries. And on top of that, autumn is usually full of premieres. You can find information about them in the October-November issue of the Wrocław Cultural Guide.

The opening article covers the double anniversary: 80 years of the Ossoliński National Institute and 200 years since the death of its patron (pp. 6 –9). The Wrocław Puppet Theatre also celebrates its 80th anniversary (pp. 18 –19); in November, the 25th edition of the Wrocław Industrial Festival is held (pp. 34 –35), along with the 20th anniversary of Akademickie Radio LUZ (pp. 28 –29).

Throughout the year, we have also been looking back at the European Capital of Culture – a title Wrocław held exactly 10 years ago. The sixth “Postcard from the European Capital of Culture” is written by Maciej Masztalski, a theatre director and artistic director of the Ad Spectatores Theatre, who reflects on the ECoC theatre programme and on a production inextricably linked to this major cultural project (pp. 38–39).

While covering cultural phenomena that have been part of the city’s cultural scene for years, we do not lose sight of those emerging right now. In this issue of the Guide, you can read, among other things, about the publication of Olga Tokarczuk’s new novel (p. 10) and Kościuszko, the latest musical from the Capitol Musical Theatre (p. 33); about new film series launching this autumn at the New Horizons Cinema and the Lower Silesian Film Centre (pp. 42–43) and the first edition of the International Performance Festival “New Perspectives” (pp. 26–27); about Szymon Bira’s book, aptly titled Nova, and the film Lachtara. Longing, which is set to reach cinemas this autumn (p. 47), as well as the series Less of a Stranger, coming soon to Netflix (p. 5).

And, of course, we invite you to browse our events calendar, featuring more than 100 events taking place in October and November. Have a very cultural autumn!
