“In Between Two” – exhibition of workshop graphics by Sarah Steuer

Sarah Steuer’s exhibition is made up of prints and drawings of creatures from another world – strange and mystical monstrosities reflected on copper matrices. Imaginary creatures, hidden in the nooks and crannies of a sheet of paper, pensive with closed eyes, entwined with mysterious ornaments will encourage you to take a break from reality for a while.

Prepare to be enchanted! You’re cordially invited to immerse yourself in the unveiling of an extraordinary exhibition featuring the talented Dresden-based artist on April 18th at 7 p.m. Step into the mesmerizing world of “In Between Two,” where lithography and etching collide to reveal the captivating interplay between positive and negative perspectives. Delve deeper into the noble realms of classic printing techniques as you encounter graphic forms teeming with wonder, legends, and myths.

Sarah Steuer’s prints and drawings were created in the privacy of her studio in Dresden. In this exhibition, the artist lets us in on a little secret and shows us creatures from another world. The artist is inspired by the medieval symbols and mysterious ornaments. At the exhibition she exhibits not only graphic prints, but also metal matrices, which remind the artist of mirrors considered as portals. It turns out that mirror images have long played a significant role in the history of printing. For example, Johannes Gutenberg, a German craftsman and creator of the world’s first industrial printing method, wielded the art of making mirrors out of metal and glass, believing in their deep spiritual symbolism. It is also known that, according to medieval beliefs, mirror reflections were linked to magic and the art of alchemy. So are the mysterious works of Sarah Steuer.”
